"Two Trees in Irvine Park"

Latest Update as of January 4th...
Well, the new year is here and I'm already behind on the resolutions.  I'm planning on creating a staggering 300 paintings this year - not all winners - but lots of studies, sketches and a few large works as well.  It's all part of the process.  You'll see when they're here.  Also, I took a turn-around trip to a small town in Nevada called Beatty.  It's small.  Mostly a large trailer park community that supports a mining operation.  I only did two paintings, the afternoon light is amazing and the hills are just fantastic.  I'll be back to that little town again in the springtime to see all the wildflowers blooming in Death Valley.

Latest Update as of November 11th...
I recently went on a painting trip up the coast to lovely Morro Bay along with a bunch of local fellow painters from SoCalPAPA.  The weather was perfect and the wind rustling through the magnificient Eucalyptus trees at night while camping was just amazing.  I posted a few of the paintings I did while there.  Who knows, maybe a larger one will come of them!

Latest Update as of November 2nd...
Well, I couldn't have been happier than a clam during the LPAPA Invitational.  The people were great, the show was great.... many, many kudos to both Rosemary and Derry, you two did an absolute fantastic job!  I really hope to participate next year.

I also made some new friends and reconnected with some old ones.  Larry Moore... if your reading this, I AM going to come visit during a hurricane!

Latest Update as of October 7th...
The LPAPA Invitational is next week and I've been painting up a storm!
Here's the week of events:
Sunday the 11th all the artists will be painting at the Montage in Laguna Beach.  There is no real time frame, but everyone will be painting in the morning from about 9am till noon or so.  I'll be there.  These paintings will be sold for only $300 at the Laguna Art Musuem.  The caveat is that you will not know who's painting you purchased until after you've bought it.  It's a great way to purchase a peice of art that would normally go for over $1000 in most cases.  Don't miss out!

Then on Saturday the 17th is the quickdraw at Heisler Park in Laguna Beach.  This is always a fun event as everyone has 2 hours to paint a masterpeice starting at 9am.  Then all the paintings will be sold at silent auction following the event at the Museum.

Later that evening is the Collectors Soiree.  Tickets are required and may be purchased through the Laguna Art Museum.

Then on Sunday the 18th the Musuem is open to the public from 11am till 3pm.  There will be fresh paintings being hung throughout the day.  I'll have about 5-6 to replace the ones that have sold.

Latest Update as of August 22nd....
Well, if you hadn't heard, I won FIRST PLACE at the LPAPA Best of Plein Air Show for my painting "A Couple of Barns"  I even sold it!  Oh, yeah, art world, here I come!

This also means that I am in the LPAPA Invitational held in Laguna Beach!  More details on this as the event approches.  This made me so incredibly happy!  Now, off to go paint....
